CBAM-Readiness Audit services FOR UK MANUFACTURERS

Independent Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) readiness audits assessing data accuracy, emissions reporting, material traceability and supply‑chain compliance for the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Designed for UK manufacturers who need practical, industry‑focused support to meet CBAM requirements, reduce compliance risk and prepare for full reporting obligations.

Be Ready for the Changes in 1.1.27: CBAM Audits for Steel & Aluminium Fabricators IN THE UK.

Ensuring your steel or aluminium fabrication business is fully prepared for the UK's CBAM requirements which start 1.1.27.

Overview

The UK's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) introduces mandatory carbon‑intensity reporting for imported steel from 1 January 2027.

While steel & aluminium fabricators who purchase from UK stockholders are not CBAM declarants, Tier 1 contractors & fabricators will still require CBAM‑aligned documentation for every project.

Our CBAM‑Readiness Audit services ensures your fabrication business can confidently supply the required data — CN codes, origin, production route, embedded emissions and heat‑number traceability — in a clean, auditable format that meets Tier 1 expectations.

This is a documentation and traceability audit, not a regulatory audit.

We make CBAM simple, structured, and fully integrated into your existing QA system.

⭐ Example Tier 1 Contractors Who Will Require CBAM Documentation.

1. National Highways

National Highways requires carbon reporting, origin traceability and full materials documentation for all steel used in bridges, gantries, barriers and structures.

2. Network Rail

CBAM data fits directly into their existing “Materials Traceability Requirements” for stations, bridges, gantries and trackside structures.

3. HS2 (High Speed Two)

HS2 has the strictest carbon reporting requirements of any UK infrastructure project.

4. Sellafield Ltd (Nuclear)

CBAM data aligns with their existing QA and regulatory documentation requirements.

5. EDF / Hinkley Point C / Sizewell C

CBAM data becomes part of the mandatory materials compliance pack.

6. Balfour Beatty (Tier 1 contractor across rail, highways, nuclear)

They already require carbon reporting and origin documentation for steel.

CBAM adds legally‑defined data fields they must collect from fabricators.

7. Kier

CBAM data becomes part of their mandatory materials documentation.

8. Skanska

CBAM emissions data fits directly into their reporting systems.

9. Laing O’Rourke

CBAM data becomes part of their digital QA requirements.

10. Major steelwork contractors (Tier 1 fabricators):

Examples:

◾ Severfield

◾ William Hare

◾ Bourne Group

◾ Mabey Bridge

They must supply CBAM‑aligned documentation to their Tier 1 clients.

They will also push CBAM requirements down to smaller fabricators supplying them.

Why CBAM Matters for Fabricators

Even though you do not import steel directly, CBAM affects your ability to:

• Win work from Tier 1 contractors & fabricators

• Pass pre‑qualification and supply‑chain audits

• Provide compliant documentation packs

• Demonstrate full traceability for all steel used

• Avoid project delays caused by missing CBAM data

Tier 1 contractors in highways, rail, nuclear, commercial buildings and major infrastructure will require CBAM‑aligned documentation from all fabricators supplying them.

Our audit ensures you are ready.

What the Audit Covers

We assess your entire documentation and traceability workflow, including:

1. Supplier CBAM Data

Verification that your stockholders provide:

• CN codes

• origin

• production route

• embedded emissions (Scope 1 + 2)

• heat numbers

• MTC integrity

• CBAM emissions sheets

2. Goods‑Inwards Controls

Assessment of:

• CBAM data capture

• heat‑number recording

• batch / cast traceability

• MTC storage and retrieval

• QA procedure updates

3. Project‑Level Traceability

We verify that you can link:

• heat numbers → batches → components → project documentation

4. Competence & Responsibility

We check:

• staff awareness

• training

• roles and responsibilities

• procedural updates

5. Risk Assessment

Identification of gaps such as:

• missing emissions data

• inconsistent origin declarations

• weak traceability

• incomplete MTCs

• supplier non‑compliance

Audit Deliverables

Every CBAM‑Readiness Audit includes:

✔ Full Audit Report

Findings, non‑conformities and evidence review.

✔ Corrective Action Plan

Practical, achievable actions.

✔ Standardised CBAM Project Pack Template

A complete, ready‑to‑use format.

Benefits to Your Business

• Meet Tier 1 contractor & fabricator requirements

• Strengthen tender submissions

• Avoid documentation‑related project delays

• Improve supply‑chain transparency

• Integrate CBAM into existing QA processes

• Operate confidently without being a CBAM declarant

CBAM is complex for importers — but for fabricators, it is simply a matter of documentation discipline and traceability. We make that easy.

Who This Service Is For?

• Steel & aluminium fabricators

• Structural steelwork contractors

• Secondary fabricators supplying Tier 1's

• Specialist fabrication shops

• Modular and off‑site manufacturers

• Fabricators supplying nuclear, rail, highways, or commercial projects

If you use steel, you will need CBAM‑aligned documentation — even if you do not import it.
