For candidates, we also offer the course for completion by self study. With our flexible, self study courses, candidates can start and progress through the training at anytime, anywhere & at their own pace. Total estimated Self Study time required to complete the course is 10 Hours. All course materials would be posted & e-mailed to the candidate. Candidates also receive a comprehensive, full-colour Training Handbook that serves as both a course guide and a valuable reference tool after completion of the course. Candidates also have the support of our Course Tutor as they progress through the course.

This weld inspection training course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the requirements for the welding inspection (visual inspection & other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection techniques) of structural steel & aluminium welds for supply into steel & aluminium structures to satisfy the requirements of UKCA & CE Marking to BS EN 1090.
The course is focussed on providing practical, work-place ready skills that employers and industry require, but that many academic programmes do not provide.
The course is suitable for candidates at all levels, including those new to welding inspection, as no specific qualification entry requirements are needed.
The course covers the following topics:
A review of welding fundamentals
The principles of the widely used arc welding processes.
The types of welding imperfections that can occur in fusion welded joints and how to avoid them.
How to carry out a visual welding inspection to BS EN ISO 17637.
How to use welding gauges when carrying out a visual welding inspection.
The principles of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) weld inspection techniques: (Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection; Dye Penetrant Testing; Eddy Current Testing.)
The specific weld quality requirements for steel & aluminium structures in the UK & EU for UKCA & CE Marking to BS EN 1090-2 (steel structures ) & BS EN 1090-3 (Aluminium structures.)
Non-conformance reporting, corrective actions & continuous improvement.
