This is a fast-track Metallurgy course which is unrivalled in the market & which is suitable for candidates at all levels, including those new to Metallurgy, as no specific qualification entry requirements are required. The course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, applications, manufacture, inspection & testing of ferrous & non-ferrous metals. The course is focussed on providing practical, work-place ready skills that employers and industry require, but that many academic programmes do not provide.
🔸Certificate in Materials Engineering (CertMatEng) 85 Hours. This is a fast-track Materials Engineering course which is unrivalled in the market & which is suitable for candidates at all levels, including those new to materials engineering, as no specific qualification entry requirements are required. 🔸Copper & Its Alloys - Production, Metallurgy & Quality Control 25 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of copper & its alloys.
🔸Ferrous Metals (Steel, Stainless Steel & Cast Iron) - Production, Metallurgy & Quality Control 55 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of steel, stainless steel & cast iron.
🔸How to Develop & Write a Qualified Welding Procedure Specification 10 Hours. The course provides knowledge, skills & understanding on how to develop & write a qualified welding procedure specification (WPS) for a widely used structural steel grade BS EN 10025-2 S355 welded by the widely used arc welding processes according to the European welding standards.
🔸Introduction to Metallurgy 15 Hours. A practical, entry‑level introduction to metallurgy that explains the fundamentals of metal structure, processing and behaviour, delivered as flexible self‑study and on‑site training suitable for complete beginners through to technicians and engineers. No prior knowledge of Metallurgy is required.
🔸Mechanical Testing & Mechanical Properties of Engineering Materials 15 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the mechanical testing methods for the determination of the mechanical properties of engineering materials.
🔸Metallurgy of Aluminium Casting Alloys 20 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of cast aluminium alloys.
🔸Metallurgy of Cast Iron 25 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of cast iron.
🔸Physical Metallurgy & Crystalline Structure of Metals & Alloys 15 Hours. Studying Physical Metallurgy & Crystalline Structure is essential for understanding the properties and behaviour of metals and alloys, which are fundamental to industries like aerospace, power generation, automotive, construction and electronics. It helps engineers and scientists develop stronger, more durable and more efficient materials by analysing phase transformations and microstructures.
🔸Responsible Welding Coordination 20-40 Hours (dependent on the course chosen.) Studying Responsible Welding Coordination equips candidates with specialised expertise in welding technology, welding processes, welding codes & standards, metallurgy, inspection techniques and compliance with regulations like ISO 14731 and EN 1090.
🔸Stainless Steel - Production, Metallurgy & Quality Control 30 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of stainless steel.
🔸Steel & Stainless Steel - Production, Metallurgy & Quality Control 50 Hours. This course provides candidates with comprehensive knowledge, skills & understanding on the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection & testing of steel & stainless steel.
🔸The Fundamentals of Composite Materials 15 Hours. This composites fundamentals course covers the structure, properties, manufacture, applications, inspection, testing & joining of of composite materials.
🔸The Fundamentals of Corrosion Engineering & Corrosion Prevention 15 Hours. This course covers fundamental corrosion science, corrosion mechanisms, laboratory testing methods, corrosion prevention strategies & the basic metallurgy, properties & applications of the widely used corrosion resistant alloys (CRAs) including Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys, Copper Alloys:, Zirconium Alloys, Cobalt Alloys & Titanium Alloys.
🔸 The Fundamentals of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) 10 Hours. This introductory course in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) covers the fundamental principles, typical applications, advantages & disadvantages, applicable international standards and the training requirements for Inspectors for the principal types of NDT techniques that are widely specified for the identification of imperfections & defects in metals & other engineering materials.
🔸The Fundamentals of Steelmaking & Steel Manufacturing Processes 15 Hours. This is a comprehensive course covering the various steelmaking routes (Blast Furnace / BOS; Electric Arc Furnace; Green Steelmaking; Secondary Steelmaking) & other steel manufacturing routes which is unrivalled in the market & is suitable for candidates at all levels, including those new to steelmaking & steel manufacturing processes, as no specific qualification entry requirements are required.

This is a comprehensive welding inspection & quality management course which is unrivalled in the market & which is suitable for candidates at all levels, including those new to welding & quality management, as no specific qualification entry requirements are required. The course is applicable to a wide range of welding industry sectors and covers the requirements for visual welding inspection, as well as the principles of the supplementary non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for the inspection of weld quality, including Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Testing & Eddy Current Testing.
