This Metallurgy training course explains the fundamentals of metal structure, processing, applications, properties, testing and inspection covering Steels; Stainless Steels; Cast Iron; Aluminium & its Alloys; Copper & its Alloys; Nickel & its alloys; Titanium & its alloys; Cobalt alloys.

The course is also ideal for candidates at all levels, including those new to Metallurgy as no specific qualification entry requirements are required.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The overall structure of the course covers the following:

• Crystalline structure of metals.

• Phases & phase diagrams.

• Wrought products & cast products.

• Metallography: the macrostructural & microstructural examination of metals & alloys.

• Failure investigations & the use of Electron Microscopy.

• The product standards, grades, methods of manufacture, properties & applications of a wide range of metals & alloys including: Steels; Stainless Steels; Cast Iron; Aluminium & its Alloys; Copper & its Alloys; Nickel & its alloys; Titanium & its alloys; Cobalt alloys.

• The principles of the widely specified mechanical tests for the determination of the mechanical properties of metal products: Tensile Test; Charpy Impact Test; Hardness Test.

• Certification of Metal Products to BS EN 10204.

• Fracture & Fatigue.

• The Fundamentals of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques for the inspection of metal products: Ultrasonic UT; Radiography RT; Magnetic Particle Inspection MT; Dye Penetrant Testing PT; Eddy Current Testing ET.
