FLEXIBLE SELF STUDY Training COURSE
COURSE OVERVIEW
On this SELF STUDY training course you will develop the KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS on HOW to CARRY OUT a VISUAL INSPECTION of WELD QUALITY.
The course is suitable for candidates in ALL FUNCTIONS & at ALL LEVELS & would be IDEAL for anyone that is NEW to VISUAL WELDING INSPECTION as NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE of Visual Welding Inspection is required & there are NO SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS.
The course would also be IDEAL for Trainees, Students & Apprentices who are looking to increase their KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS towards undertaking a role as a VISUAL WELDING INSPECTOR.
NO PRIOR WELDING INSPECTION EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED & there are NO SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, however candidates should be able to perform calculations from straightforward mathematical formulae & to understand data in tabular form.

Candidates are assessed by CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENTS and those achieving the required standard will be AWARDED a CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT in 'VISUAL WELDING INSPECTION' & CPD 10 HOURS.
A COMPREHENSIVE, FULL-COLOUR TRAINING HANDBOOK is also provided, which also serves an EXCELLENT REFERENCE document following completion of the training.
SELF STUDY
The course is completed by SELF STUDY, which provides a FLEXIBLE route for candidates to START & PROGRESS through the training at ANYTIME, ANYWHERE & at their OWN PACE. Total estimated SELF STUDY time required to complete the course is 10 HOURS. The START DATE for the training would follow receipt of payment of the course fees. All course materials would be posted & e-mailed to the candidate.
TUTOR SUPPORT
During their progression through the SELF STUDY course, the candidate also has the option to request a TUTORIAL SESSION with the COURSE TUTOR of up to 2 HOURS DURATION. The aim of the Session, which would be arranged ONLINE or by PHONE, would be to review any issues the candidate may have on their understanding of the course material.

Philip’s extensive Welding knowledge & expertise is endorsed by his academic and professional qualifications in Welding, including professional membership of the Welding Institute (MWeldI) and an International Institute of Welding (IIW) 'Diploma of International Welding Inspector' following the successful completion of CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector training and examinations at the TWI.
Philip also possesses extensive metallurgical and engineering expertise, he has a Masters' Degree in Advanced Metallurgy (MMet) from the University of Sheffield & professional qualifications in Metallurgy & Materials Engineering through professional membership (MIMMM) of The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining.
Philip is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng), with more than 30 years' experience in metals manufacturing, engineering, welding & fabrication.
